it is a very old and cherished dining room set with 6 chairs, but it all needs refinishing. we live in north iowa.
Any antique shops in your area? Visit any that stock antique furniture and ask them who does it for them.
A specific suggestion: Call Banowetz Antiques in Maquoketa, IA
563-652-2359. They have a huge antique store and their main stock-in-trade is antique furniture. If they don’t do the refinishing, they’ll know who does.

I recently purchased an antique walnut dining room table and chairs. On the bottom of the table it reads: CPCO 113 25 The Eng Co Chicago. Anyone know what it means?

I bought an antique dining set of mahogany the chairs wobble and squeek when you are sitting on them. How can I fix this without devaluing the set.
If you are, or know a wood worker, ask them to reglue and clamp the joints. Use a good woodworkers glue, like Elmers.
Keep the chairs clamped for at least 24 hours, unclamp, and enjoy. This will not devalue the piece, and the chairs will be nice and solid.
Do NOT add screws! Also, if the chairs are taken apart for the reglue process, make sure you save them and reinstall the way they were. In other words, keep the old hardware in place.
